How to Keep a Toddler Busy with Pipe Cleaners: My Favorite Pipe Cleaner Post on Pinterest

Hapa Baby has been extremely active lately. She has been itching to get into things and explore the world around her. Because it’s still cold and rainy outside, we have to find indoor things to do. So, of course, I had to turn to Pinterest.

After searching for a few hours, I found this post: Pipe Sticks. There was a picture, but no information on what to do with the pipe cleaners. It looked pretty simple though, give a toddler a bunch of pipe cleaners and let them go wild with a colander.

That is exactly what I did. I gave Hapa Baby 20 pipe cleaners and let her imagination go crazy with our yellow colander. I threw some straws into the mix. The colander had holes where the straws wouldn’t fit, but the pipe cleaners. did. I thought this would help her fine motor and problem solving skills. Threading the pipe cleaners through the colander’s holes would help her fine motor skills and determining which holes the straws fit in would help her problem solving skills.

It kept her busy for an hour or so.  Here are some pictures of the event:

It looks pretty fun, right?

Even the dog had some colander and bendy straw fun.
